Move-in day is easier when the home is prioritized by function, not by shopping category.

Before comparing sofas, curtains and appliances, decide what must be usable on night one, what can wait a week and what can wait a month. That sequence prevents unnecessary rush purchases.

Before move-in day

  • Confirm cleaning and access.
  • Confirm electricity, water and essential utilities.
  • Measure major appliance and furniture spaces.
  • Prioritize bed, refrigerator, basic seating and essential lighting.
  • Schedule moving and installation in the right order.

First week

  • Complete essential appliances.
  • Install curtains/privacy items.
  • Resolve handyman and mounting work.
  • Fill kitchen and bathroom essentials.
  • Only then expand decorative/nonessential purchases.

A sourcing plan should track four things.

02Budget
What is the acceptable range?
03Lead time
Can it arrive before the required date?
04Dependencies
Does installation or another supplier need to happen first?

Avoid speculative buying
